Medical Assistant | Job Description Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Assistant to support both administrative and clinical workflows. This role plays a key part in managing patient records, coordinating provider communication, and ensuring timely completion of patient-related requests. The ideal candidate is organized, efficient, and able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced medical environment. Key Responsibilities Medical Records Management Maintainaccurateand up-to-date patient medical records within the EMR system Scan, upload, and properly index medical documentation into patient charts Ensure all incoming records (e.g., referrals, hospital notes, lab results, imaging) are received and attachedin a timely manner Process medical records requests in compliance with HIPAA and applicable privacy regulations Track and follow up on pending records from external providers Ensure patient charts are complete and prepared prior to appointments Administrative & Clinical Support Review and managetelephoneencounters; ensure messages are complete and routed appropriately Communicate patient questions, concerns, and requests clearly to providers Submitmedication refill requeststo providers andassistwith processing once approved Complete and processpatient-related forms(e.g., FMLA, disability, work/school notes) accurately andtimely Assistwith patient intake and documentation verification as needed Verify patient demographics and insurance information Manage incoming faxes, emails, and electronic documentation Maintain tracking logs for patient requests, forms, and pending items Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Medical Assistant certification preferred but notrequired 1-2 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred Experience with EMR systems (eClinicalWorks preferred) Working knowledge of medical terminology Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong communicationand follow-up skills Skills & Competencies Proficiencyin data entry and general computer systems Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to manage high-volume communication (phone and electronic) Effective time management and accountability Preferred Experience (Plus) Experience managingtelephone encounters andprovidingmessaging workflows. Familiarity withmedication refill processes. Experience completingpatient forms(e.g., FMLA, disability). Experience in a specialty clinic (e.g., neurology) Experience with referrals and insurance authorizations. Physical Requirements This role primarily involves sedentary work, including extended periods of sitting, typing, and viewing a computer screen. The position may require occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 15 pounds.
