Bilingual Senior Primary Care Medical Assistant
Job Description
Conviva Senior Primary Care seeks a Bilingual Medical Assistant to support our senior patients (65+) with compassionate, patient-first care. In this role, you'll room patients, obtain vitals and histories, assist with exams and procedures, coordinate referrals, manage documentation, and support care plans in both English and Spanish. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver preventive, value-based care, wellness services, and education. Responsibilities Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) Prepare exam rooms and patients for provider visits and in-office procedures, ensuring comfort, privacy, and adherence to infection control standards Assist providers with examinations, minor procedures, and treatments, including specimen collection and point-of-care testing Administer medications and vaccines per provider orders and within scope of practice, documenting all care accurately Facilitate clear bilingual communication (English/Spanish) between patients, families, and the care team, ensuring understanding of care plans and instructions Support chronic disease management and preventive care initiatives focused on senior patients, including follow-up calls and patient education Coordinate referrals, diagnostic tests, and follow-up appointments, helping to manage patient flow and reduce wait times Perform front-office tasks such as scheduling, verifying demographic information, and assisting with insurance or paperwork as needed Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment, and follow all clinic safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other team members to support a patient-centered, team-based care model Required Skills Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish Phlebotomy and specimen collection Taking and interpreting vital signs Administering injections and vaccines Electronic health records (EHR) documentation Basic clinical procedures and aseptic technique Understanding of geriatric care and chronic disease management Patient education and communication skills Knowledge of medical terminology Appointment scheduling and patient flow coordination Infection control and safety protocols Basic computer literacy and data entry Teamwork in an outpatient clinical setting Time management and multitasking in a fast-paced environment
