Job Description
Overview Join our healthcare team as a Primary Care/Urgent Care Medical Assistant. In this role, you'll provide clinical and administrative support in a busy outpatient setting, helping ensure smooth daily operations and a strong patient experience. You'll work across a range of medical visit types which makes this a strong opportunity to broaden your clinical skills while delivering timely, compassionate care to a diverse patient population. Clinical Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):
- Taking medical histories and triaging patients
- Preparing patients for examinations and assisting the provider during exams
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests
- Performing phlebotomy
- Preparing and administering medications, including intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections and vaccinations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider
- Instructing patients on medications and special diets
- Transmitting prescription refills as directed
- Performing electrocardiograms
- Providing wound care and changing dressings Administrative Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):
- Welcoming and checking in patients
- Answering telephones and scheduling appointments
- Updating and maintaining patient medical records
- Coding and completing insurance forms
- Using electronic health record and other computer applications Qualifications
- Prior medical office experience with a strong foundation in medical assisting practices and terminology
- Hands-on experience in outpatient or urgent care settings; hospital or Level I/II trauma center experience is a plus
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Additional certifications such as phlebotomy or EMR/EHR management preferred
- Working knowledge of dermatology, emergency medicine, pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, and geriatrics preferred
- Familiarity with hospital medicine protocols, inpatient or OR procedures, and ICD coding is advantageous

Pay:
$16.50- $20.
