Job Description Position Summary:

The Medical Assistant (MA) in an urgent care setting plays a critical role in delivering efficient, high-quality care to patients with acute illnesses and injuries. This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and assist providers with a wide range of clinical procedures while supporting front office operations as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

Rapidly room patients and obtain accurate vital signs Perform focused patient intake, including chief complaint and brief history Assist providers with urgent care procedures (e.g., suturing, splinting, wound care, incision & drainage) Administer medications, vaccines, and injections as ordered Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., COVID, flu, strep, urinalysis, pregnancy tests) Conduct EKGs, phlebotomy, and specimen collection Prepare patients for X-rays and assist with imaging workflow (if applicable) Clean, stock, and turn over exam rooms quickly between patients Follow strict infection control and OSHA guidelines

Administrative & Support Duties:

Assist with patient flow to minimize wait times and improve efficiency Accurately document in the EMR in real time Support front desk tasks as needed (check-in/out, insurance verification, phone calls) Coordinate referrals, prescriptions, and discharge instructions Ensure all labs and imaging are properly labeled and processed

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required Completion of a Medical Assistant program Current certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) Experience in urgent care, emergency room, or high-volume clinic preferred Basic radiology/X-ray license (if required by state) is a plus

Work Environment:

High patient volume with a wide variety of acute conditions Frequent exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases Requires standing, walking, and rapid movement throughout shifts May include evenings, weekends, and holidays

Pay:

$18.00 - $19.00 per hour Expected hours: 36.0 per week
