The ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and efficiency is essential. Strong computer proficiency and the ability to efficiently navigate electronic health record (EHR) systems, scheduling platforms, insurance portals, and other healthcare software are required. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Performing a wide range of administrative and clerical duties to support the daily operations of the medical practice. Processing referrals and coordinating specialty appointments. Verifying patient insurance eligibility and benefits. Obtaining prior authorizations for medications, diagnostic testing, imaging studies, and procedures. Managing laboratory orders, tracking outstanding results, reviewing incoming reports, and ensuring timely provider notification and patient follow-up. Performing patient triage by assessing patient concerns, documenting symptoms, prioritizing patient needs, and communicating appropriately with providers according to office protocols. Accurately scheduling patient appointments and coordinating follow-up care. Communicating professionally and efficiently with patients, physicians, hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, imaging centers, nursing facilities, and other healthcare providers. Obtaining and documenting vital signs. Performing clinical procedures, including electrocardiograms (EKGs), spirometry, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and assisting with minor office procedures. Processing medication refill requests in accordance with physician protocols. Maintaining accurate and timely medical documentation within the electronic health record (EHR). Demonstrating excellent multitasking, organizational, and time-management skills in a fast-paced medical environment. Maintaining patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and all applicable federal, state, and local healthcare regulations. Working collaboratively as a dependable team member while providing exceptional patient care and customer service. Performing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervising physician or direct supervisor.
