Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Position Overview We are seeking a skilled, organized, and patient-focused Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join a growing Pulmonology specialty clinic in the Wesley Chapel, FL area . This is an excellent opportunity for a Medical Assistant who enjoys working in a fast-paced specialty setting and is comfortable balancing patient care, administrative responsibilities, and provider support . The ideal candidate will be highly organized, dependable, and confident communicating with patients, insurance companies, pharmacies, and healthcare providers. This position has a strong administrative and patient-coordination component, including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, prior authorizations, medication refills, referrals, and high-volume phone communication . Key Responsibilities Review upcoming schedules and provide timely appointment reminders Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments Complete patient check-in and check-out, including collecting copays and outstanding balances Ensure patient forms, consents, and documentation are complete and current Maintain efficient patient flow throughout the clinic Manage a high-volume, multiline phone system and respond to patient inquiries professionally Schedule new patient and follow-up appointments Coordinate referrals and follow-up care with outside providers and facilities Process prior authorizations for medications, procedures, diagnostic testing, and specialty services Handle medication refill requests according to provider protocols Assist with coordinating pulmonary testing, diagnostic studies, and specialty procedures Communicate with pharmacies and insurance companies as needed Provide administrative and clinical support to physicians and clinical staff Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR Assist with patient questions and ensure appropriate follow-up Multitask effectively while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail QualificationsRequired Current BLS Certification Current Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or equivalent) Strong communication and customer service skills Excellent organizational and time-management abilities Comfortable working in a busy, administrative-heavy specialty practice Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and standard office software Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism Preferred Previous experience in Pulmonology or another specialty practice Experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations Experience coordinating referrals and diagnostic testing Familiarity with medication refill processes Experience scheduling specialty procedures or pulmonary testing Experience working with high-volume patient phone systems What We're Looking For Highly organized and detail-oriented Professional, dependable, and adaptable Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment Strong verbal and written communication skills Compassionate and patient-service oriented Confident interacting with patients, providers, pharmacies, and insurance companies Strong follow-up and problem-solving skills Able to work independently while being a collaborative team member Committed to providing an exceptional patient experience Why Join Us?
