Duties Assist in managing patients with chronic illnesses by conducting intake assessments, updating medical histories, and recording vital signs accurately using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Support physicians and healthcare providers during patient visits by preparing exam rooms, documenting clinical notes, and facilitating necessary procedures such as phlebotomy or medication administration. Educate patients on their treatment plans, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and self-care strategies tailored to their specific conditions. Coordinate follow-up appointments, monitor patient progress through regular communication, and assist in scheduling additional tests or specialist referrals as needed. Maintain detailed documentation of patient interactions, ICD coding for diagnoses, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards. Support medical office management tasks including inventory management of supplies, scheduling patient appointments, and managing incoming calls with professionalism and empathy. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care plans, utilizing knowledge of physiology, pharmacology, and anatomy to support clinical decision-making. Experience Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient clinics or hospital settings with a focus on chronic disease management. Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner is essential for accurate documentation and record keeping. Prior experience working within hospital medicine, urgent care, or emergency medicine environments is highly desirable. Knowledge of dermatology, geriatrics, internal medicine, and medical-surgical procedures enhances your ability to deliver comprehensive patient care. Demonstrated proficiency in procedures such as phlebotomy, X-ray assistance, vital signs collection, medication administration, and ICD coding. Experience working in inpatient settings like Level I or Level II trauma centers or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) environments is advantageous. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications related to emergency medicine or hospital experience are a plus.
