Responsibilities Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates. Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are ready for patient visits. Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration, and basic life support procedures to support patient care. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) by accurately documenting patient information, medical histories, treatment plans, and ICD coding for diagnoses. Support medical office operations by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling administrative duties such as medical records management and insurance documentation. Assist with specialized procedures in dermatology, outpatient clinics, or hospital settings including physiology assessments and anatomy-related tasks. Maintain compliance with safety protocols related to infection control, HIPAA regulations, and hospital policies in inpatient or outpatient environments. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in high-pressure settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Demonstrate proficiency in EMR/EHR systems for efficient documentation and retrieval of patient data across various departments like geriatrics or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit). Qualifications Proven experience as a Medical Assistant with a strong background in medical office support and clinical procedures. Knowledge of dermatology, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, or urgent care environments is highly desirable. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management is essential for accurate documentation. Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and pharmacology principles. Previous inpatient or outpatient experience in hospital settings—particularly Level I or Level II trauma centers—is advantageous. Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately across diverse populations. Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in fast-paced environments such as emergency rooms or specialty clinics.
