We are currently considering full-time, part-time, and PRN candidates and have an immediate need for qualified applicants. This position will primarily be based at our Johnston clinic, with regular shifts at our West Des Moines clinic and occasional coverage at our Altoona clinic as needed. Because of our immediate staffing needs, this is not an entry-level position. Candidates must have at least two years of recent medical-assistant experience in an urgent care or primary care setting. The successful candidate should already be comfortable performing the core clinical responsibilities of a Medical Assistant independently, with orientation provided for DoctorsNow-specific systems, workflows, and policies. A current Iowa limited radiography permit is strongly preferred and may qualify a candidate for compensation at the higher end of the posted range. Responsibilities Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs, medication lists, allergies, and relevant health histories Prepare patients for evaluation and assist providers with clinical workflow Perform blood draws, injections, specimen collection, and point-of-care laboratory testing Perform diagnostic X-rays when appropriately permitted and trained Assist with occupational-health services, including drug testing and other employer-directed services Assist providers with minor procedures, wound care, and other patient-care needs Document accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record Prepare examination rooms and maintain appropriate clinical supplies Follow infection-control, patient-identification, and safety procedures Communicate professionally with patients, providers, pharmacies, employers, and outside healthcare organizations Help maintain efficient patient flow in a fast-paced outpatient environment Support other members of the clinical team as needed Required Qualifications Current Certified Medical Assistant credential from a recognized certifying organization At least two years of recent experience working as a Medical Assistant Previous urgent care or primary care experience Experience with patient rooming, vital signs, medication reconciliation, injections, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing Strong patient-care and communication skills Excellent attention to detail Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced clinical setting Ability to recognize when a clinical concern should be escalated to a provider Reliable attendance and dependable transportation Ability to work collaboratively as part of a clinical team Preferred Qualifications Current Iowa limited radiography permit Experience performing adult and pediatric X-rays Strong phlebotomy skills Experience with occupational-health services and drug screening Experience assisting with minor procedures and wound care Experience using an electronic health record Availability for some evening and rotating weekend shifts Ability to provide coverage at more than one DoctorsNow location when needed Schedule DoctorsNow clinics are open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. We are currently considering full-time, part-time, and PRN candidates.
