Full-time Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our orthopedic team. The ideal candidate will support physicians and healthcare professionals in providing exceptional care to patients. This role involves assisting with various clinical and administrative duties to ensure smooth operations and deliver top-notch patient care. In this role, you will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to orthopedic physicians and patients. Your duties will include assisting with patient exams, preparing patients for orthopedic procedures, managing medical records, administering injections, and providing post-operative care instructions. Additionally, you will help support scheduling a variety of appointments, coordinating referrals, handling insurance verification, and maintaining a clean and efficient clinical environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical setting. Prior experience in an orthopedic office or similar healthcare environment is preferred.

Office Manager Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
Assist orthopedic surgeons and providers with patient examinations, treatments, and pre- and post-op procedures. Monitor daily clinic flow to assess whether additional support is needed among peers to ensure smooth and efficient clinic workflow Prepare patients for their appointments, including taking vitals, documenting medical history, and patient concerns into EMR system Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring all necessary equipment is sanitized and available. Order and monitor lab results to ensure patients have all necessary testing prior to their appointment. Clean and sterilize medical instruments and equipment. Aiding providers with variety of injections procedures Maintain and update patient records in EMR system.
Administrative Support:
Communicate with patients to aid them with their needs and schedule patient appointments as necessary Answer patient inquiries and provide education about orthopedic treatments and procedures. Main and/or back-up support for surgery scheduling for surgeons on an as-needed basis dependent on business needs. Manage patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in line with HIPAA guidelines. Assist with insurance verifications, referrals, and pre-authorizations on an as-needed basis. Process patient intake paperwork, including insurance information and medical histories. Coordinate and schedule follow-up visits, surgeries, and other patient-related appointments. Proactively prepare patient charts to confirm all required labs and diagnostic tests are completed prior to the provider's appointment. Review and address patient's telephone encounters within the EMR system to support timely, efficient, and high-quality care.
Patient Care:
Provide compassionate, empathetic, and effective patient communication, ensuring a positive experience. Educate patients on post-treatment care, rehabilitation, and orthopedic health practices.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (associate's degree and/or higher education or certification in medical assisting is a plus). 1-2 years of experience as a medical assistant or in a healthcare setting preferred but we are willing to train the right person. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Knowledge of medical terminology, orthopedic procedures, and insurance processes is a plus. Proficient in using office equipment (phones, fax machines, etc.) and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment. A team player with a positive attitude and a focus on patient care.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods. Occasional lifting of office supplies or files (up to 50 lbs.). Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
