Boise, Idaho — on-site position About Boise Family Medicine Boise Family Medicine is an independent family medicine practice caring for patients of all ages. We are looking for a dependable and capable Medical Assistant to join our clinical support team. We take patient care seriously, but we do not believe that professionalism requires a workplace without warmth, personality, or laughter. The Position Our Medical Assistants play an essential role in patient care and the daily operation of the practice. The right person will be comfortable working in a busy outpatient environment, interacting with patients from many backgrounds, supporting different providers, and helping the team keep the day moving safely and efficiently. A successful team member does not simply wait to be given the next task. They pay attention, communicate, complete assigned work, and offer appropriate help when something needs attention—while remaining within their training and scope of responsibility.

Primary Responsibilities Responsibilities may include:

Preparing examination rooms and patients for visits Obtaining and accurately documenting vital signs, histories, medications, allergies, and the patient's reason for the visit Performing venipuncture, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing Administering medications, injections, and immunizations when appropriately trained and authorized Performing EKGs and other routine clinical procedures Assisting providers with examinations and office procedures Gathering patient information and routing clinical questions to the appropriate provider or clinical team member Communicating provider instructions and approved results to patients Completing assigned electronic health record tasks accurately and promptly Cleaning and restocking examination rooms and clinical work areas Following infection-control, medication-safety, confidentiality, and documentation requirements Helping other members of the care team when patient care or clinic operations require it You May Be a Good Fit If You Are dependable, punctual, and ready to work your scheduled shifts Treat patients and coworkers with patience, dignity, and respect Pay close attention to details and follow established procedures Accept instruction and feedback professionally Ask questions when you are uncertain rather than making assumptions Take responsibility for your work, attitude, and mistakes Complete tasks without requiring repeated reminders Remain calm and courteous when the clinic becomes busy Communicate clearly with patients, providers, and coworkers Look for appropriate ways to help the team Enjoy learning and want to become increasingly capable in your role Can contribute to a positive workplace without losing sight of the work that must be done

Qualifications Required:

High school diploma or equivalent Strong written and verbal communication skills Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn an electronic health record system Professional handling of confidential patient information Ability to work effectively with patients of different ages, backgrounds, personalities, and medical needs Current BLS certification or ability to obtain it within 60 days of hire Preferred, but not necessarily required: Medical Assistant education, certification, or registration CNA, phlebotomy, or other relevant clinical training Previous experience in a physician practice, outpatient clinic, or hospital Experience performing venipuncture, injections, EKGs, or point-of-care testing Experience using Athenahealth or another electronic health record Certification and previous medical-office experience are helpful, but they are not the only things we consider.
