Job Description
Position Description:
Medical assistant will perform various administrative and clinical tasks. Administrative responsibilities include greeting patients as they arrive, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and updating and filing patients' medical records. Clinical responsibilities include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the physician during examinations.Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Maintains the procedure room and exams rooms as assigned.
- Assesses, plans, evaluates, and ensures the implementation of the patient's care to achieve identified outcomes and delivers safe patient care according to polices and procedures.
- Completes all documentation to ensure the availability of accurate and up to date information in accordance with established standards.
- Adheres to established facility safety standards to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ability to maintain a high level of collaboration and communication with providers and staff
- Prepare/dispense medication to patients Administrative duties are:
- Retrieve/follow-up voicemail message
- Verifies/updates patient's demographic in the EMR system
- Retrieve and sort faxes
- Preparing and maintaining medical records
- Assist with inventory / medication management
- Medication prep / dispense
- Responsible for EMR order entries / authorizations
- Maintain medical equipment and exams rooms clean
- Performs all other duties as assigned by Manager.
Job Requirements:
- Completed a Medical Assisting Program/State Exam preferred
- 2+ years of experience working for a healthcare practice or hospital
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Working knowledge of electronic medical record system, and Microsoft office
