Job Description

Yorktown Health Vernon Hills Primary Care is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant with at least 4 years of medical office experience to join our Vernon Hills practice. This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for a confident, dependable Medical Assistant who can independently support both the clinical and front-office sides of a busy physician practice . The ideal candidate has significant hands-on experience working in an outpatient medical office, is comfortable assisting providers and rooming patients, and can also step into front desk responsibilities such as scheduling, phones, check-in/check-out, insurance verification, and patient communication. Minimum Requirements 4+ years of Medical Assistant or comparable outpatient medical office experience required Experience working directly with physicians or advanced practice providers Strong clinical Medical Assistant skills Comfortable performing both clinical and front desk responsibilities Experience with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) Strong understanding of medical terminology Excellent patient communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities without constant direction Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Applicants without at least 4 years of applicable medical office experience will not be considered. Clinical Responsibilities Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs Review medications, allergies, medical history, and reason for visit Prepare patients for examinations and procedures Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during patient visits Perform point-of-care testing and other clinical procedures within scope and training Administer injections and vaccinations when appropriate Collect, label, and process specimens Manage patient messages and clinical follow-up Process medication refill requests according to provider protocols Assist with referrals and prior authorizations Prepare and stock examination rooms Maintain clinical supplies and inventory Accurately document within the electronic health record Help maintain efficient patient flow throughout the office Front Desk Responsibilities Professionally greet and assist patients Check patients in and out Answer incoming phone calls Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments Verify patient demographics and insurance information Collect copays, deductibles, and outstanding patient balances Route patient questions and messages appropriately Assist with referral and medical record requests Communicate effectively with patients regarding appointments and office procedures Who Will Be Successful in This Role? We are looking for an experienced Medical Assistant who understands that a successful private practice requires teamwork. You should be comfortable moving between the clinical area and front desk depending on patient volume and staffing needs. You may room a patient, assist a physician, answer a patient phone call, schedule an appointment, and help check a patient out during the same shift. Pay:
$23.00 - $26.00 per hour
