POSITION PURPOSE
Under the direction of a licensed healthcare provider (school nurse), the Certified Medical Assistant assists the Pleasant Crossing Elementary School nurse with coordination of student specific procedures. The CMA helps maintain a safe learning environment within the Essential Skills classrooms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Works effectively within a team environment Maintains student confidentiality Implements Individualized Education Program (IEP) and student health plans Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, including listening Navigates doctors' orders to understand proper care for students Physically lifts and/or transfers students while maintaining safety Assists with student restrooming/toileting/diapering Safely and accurately prepares and administers medications and injections under the supervision of a licenses healthcare provider (school nurse) Administers feedings to students, via G-Tube Performs basic vital signs of students Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations Other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GED Required Certificate of Completion from a Medical Assisting Program Medical Assistant Certification Required (CMA (AAMA), NCMA (NCCT), RMA (AMT), CCMA (NHA), and NRCMA (NAHP) One year of experience in healthcare preferred, but not required Strong work ethic, professional demeanor, and upmost adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA laws/guidelines
