Job Description

Job Title:
Medical Assistant Job Description This position involves working within a pulmonology clinic connected to a hospital, managing approximately 120-150 patients monthly. The patient volume for this Medical Assistant will vary as they become familiar with the different providers within the clinic. Responsibilities Assist physicians/providers by rooming patients, documenting signs/symptoms, vital signs, BMI, and reviewing medical history. Perform set-up for procedures, assist with procedures, and handle dressing changes, suture/staple removal, and DME fittings. Manage phone calls from patients regarding medical questions, test results, and medication refills, and communicate effectively with providers. Schedule tests and procedures, obtain prior authorizations, and ensure patients understand preparation instructions. Prepare patient medical records for appointments, enter orders into the EMR system, and manage FMLA and disability paperwork. Order medical supplies, coordinate bio-hazardous materials disposal, and maintain cleanliness and medication counts. Coordinate referrals, schedule appointments, and manage insurance documentation and eligibility. Essential Skills Medical assisting Patient care Medical Care Active CMA (AAMA), RMA, or CCMA certification Prior authorization experience EMR and electronic health record proficiency BLS certification Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED Completion of a recognized medical assistant training course 2-3 years of experience as a CMA Experience within family practice or women's health POC testing experience Positive, outgoing attitude Ability to stand for long periods Work Environment This is a Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm day shift at a pulmonology clinic in Franklin. The environment is temperature controlled with easy parking access. The team includes 2 providers and 1 other MA, serving approximately 130 patients daily. The clinic has a friendly, team-based culture, with opportunities for growth and professional development. No weekend work is required, and employees are off on holidays. The network offers a supportive environment with events like catered lunches, fostering a family-like atmosphere. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.22 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
