The Medical Assistant will support physicians, advanced practitioners, and nursing staff by providing both administrative and clinical assistance. This role is essential to ensuring efficient patient flow, high-quality care, and excellent patient experiences. Clinical Duties Greet and prepare patients for exams and procedures. Record and update patient medical history, vital signs, and medications in the EHR Assist providers with examinations, minor procedures, and treatments. Administer injections, immunizations, and medications as directed. Perform basic lab tests, collect specimens (blood, urine, swabs), and prepare for external lab submission. Educate patients on medications, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions. Maintain clean, stocked, and safe exam rooms according to infection-control protocols. Administrative Duties Schedule patient appointments and manage reminders through the clinic system. Handle patient check-in/check-out, insurance verification, and copay collection. Process prescription refills and prior authorizations per provider direction. Ensure accurate documentation in compliance with HIPAA and MISH Hospital policies. Assist with referrals, authorizations, and patient forms.
