Job Description
Overview We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a healthcare setting such as urgent care, outpatient clinic, or hospital. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to patient care through both clinical and clerical functions. Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers and other staff with the collection of pertinent patient information.
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
- Collect and document patient information accurately and timely.
- Communicate patient messages to appropriate provider upon receipt utilizing the electronic medical record, and follow-up immediately verbally if urgent.
- Review and process prior-authorizations for patient medications ordered by practice healthcare providers.
- Prepare and maintain cleanliness/orderliness of exam rooms for patient examinations.
- Adhere to healthcare providers orders regarding patient care.
- Perform procedures commensurate with training ( e.g. FibroScan® ).
- Schedule patient appointments and follow-ups.
- Maintain electronic health records using medical terminology.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Certification or diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program ( preferred ).
- 1 to 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or State Registered Nurse Aide ( required ).
- Current certification in basic life support (BLS) ( required ).
- Knowledge of basic computer applications, such as a Microsoft® Office.
- Familiarity with use of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Superior verbal and written communication.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team focused environment.
