Medical Administrative Assistant About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant works under the Supervision of the Nursing Supervisor and/or the Medical Director to provide services for both preventative health and urgent health care needs for students at Northeastern University presenting to University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS).
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Preparing patients for clinical visits, thoroughly completing the check-in process including taking vital signs, point of care testing, scheduling follow-up care for patients . Provides patient instruction and education as directed by clinical staff. Aids in scheduling follow-up visits for students after clinic visits, hospital or specialist visits. Maintains clear documentation, including charting, checklists, and processing records/authorizations as directed. Assisting with medication administration in clinic/ vaccinations/therapeutic injections and related duties. Assists clinician with exams and procedures, including specimen collection/labeling, instrument handling, chaperoning, and coordinating lab drop-off per protocol. Assisting in facility preparation and maintenance. This is a full-time, 5 day, 40 hours per week, in person position. Hours include one weekday evening.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides education and support for students regarding self-care and navigation of health systems. Supports implementation of defined quality assurance standards. Assists with management of medical and pharmaceutical supply monitoring.
Professional Development:
Participates in team meetings, peer and qualitative reviews as assigned, staff development programs as assigned and maintains professional licenses and certifications.
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Requirement:
MA certification
Certification Requirement:
Current Basic Life Support Experience in computer systems required including web based and Microsoft office applications. Demonstrated success in working inclusively in a highly diverse colleague and student setting. Demonstrated ability to perform safely while engaged in sequential and simultaneous responsibilities in a busy outpatient clinical setting. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proactive approach to work responsibilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in a Fast-paced student facing environment preferred. Knowledge of Massachusetts Immunization Compliance preferred.
