  • 27/hour Position Overview NurseAmerica is seeking compassionate and dependable Medical Assistants (MA) to join a leading outpatient Oncology/Hematology practice with multiple locations across Maryland.
We are hiring for opportunities across various clinics, with the potential to transition into a permanent position. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting physicians and clinical staff while providing exceptional care to oncology patients. This position is ideal for candidates who enjoy working in a fast-paced outpatient setting and are passionate about delivering quality patient care. Key Responsibilities Escort patients to and from exam and treatment rooms. Record patient information, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication updates. Prepare patients for physician examinations and clinical procedures. Assist physicians and clinical staff during exams and treatments. Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated by the physician or Registered Nurse. Prepare, clean, stock, and maintain exam and treatment rooms. Obtain and organize patient medical records before appointments. Answer and triage patient phone calls, directing questions to the appropriate clinical staff. Process prescription refill requests and perform patient follow-up calls as directed. Assist with appointment scheduling, patient flow, and coordination of care. Perform administrative duties including chart preparation, filing, faxing, scanning, and other clerical support. Follow OSHA, infection control, and clinic safety protocols. Maintain accurate patient documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR). Provide compassionate and professional service to patients and their families. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent certification preferred. Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire). 0-3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative outpatient clinical environment. Work Environment Outpatient Oncology/Hematology Clinic. Opportunity to work at multiple Maryland locations based on staffing needs. Frequent interaction with physicians, nurses, and oncology patients. Exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous medications, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common to an oncology clinic.
