Dr. Fox, our founder, is passionate at improving health outcomes for patients and is primarily focused on patients with neuromuscular disorders presenting with weakness, numbness and balance problems. This is a general neurology clinic that is welcome to patients from broad spectrum of neurological conditions including stroke, Parkinson's disease, headache, seizures, peripheral neuropathy, tremor, migraines and many other conditions. Duties may include patient intake, obtaining and documentation of vital signs, taking history, chart/note preparation, scribing, and assisting providers with patient exams, exam room turnover, prior authorizations, coordinating infusion orders, screening survey tools (i.e.
MOCA, MG-ADL
score, etc.), patient registration and scheduling patients, checking supply inventory and placing orders, patient care coordination, helping with forms, communicating with other medical offices for patient care, obtaining information for practice administration metrics and other back office tasks. Qualifications Prior clinical healthcare experience in outpatient specialty office preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and patient care best practices Excellent communication and customer service skills Attention to detail and the ability to multitask efficiently Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to a fast-paced environment High School Diploma/ GED Prior Medical assistant experience is preferred, but not required Responsibilities As a Medical Assistant at our Neurology practice, you will help with the operation of our outpatient Neurology practice. This office focuses on patients with neurological disorders. We also perform in office procedures such as EMG (electromyogram), EEG (electroencephalogram) and Botox for chronic migraine and cervical dystonia, as well as in office web-based Neuropsychology testing for dementia, mild cognitive impairment among other disorders. In addition to collaborating to provide care for office visits, your clinical care will also help with procedures as well.
Clinical Support:
Assist healthcare providers with patient preparation, examinations, office procedures (i.e. EMG (Electromyogram), EEG (Electroencephalogram), in office web-based Neuropsychology testing for memory changes), and treatments (i.e. Botox for chronic migraine, cervical dystonia), patient education, and coordinating infusion treatment for neurological autoimmune disorders Review patient charts/intake forms and prepare for scheduled patient visits Duties may include medication and vaccine administration, measurement, and documentation of vital signs, and screening survey tools (i.e. MOCA or
MMSE, MG-ADL
) and assisting providers with patient exams, and telephone and clerical support Ensure all patient records are accurately documented in our electronic medical record system (e.g., Athena Health) Documents activities in the patient's electronic medical record (EMR) Collects and processes specimens, completes requisitions, and documents Utilizes the EMR to propose patient medication refills for provider approval Completes requisitions for tests Contact insurance companies for pre-authorizations for patient medications and specialty referrals including insurance authorization
Quality Assurance:
Monitor and maintain the quality of care provided by the medical assistant team Implement and adhere to best practices and safety protocols Interact with patients in a compassionate and professional manner Address patient inquiries and concerns, providing excellent customer service Supports the clinical care team, assuring optimal best-practice patient flow; manages patient volume Conducts surveillance for transitions of care, urgent/emergent care, or follow up tasks Participate in performance improvement initiatives to improve care quality and safety Attend training for safety, infection control, etc Ensures ongoing compliance by maintaining and auditing temperature logs, ensuring medication supplies are current/unexpired, checking and maintaining emergency equipment, area free of clutter, and other related tasks Maintain and organize medical equipment and supplies Updates appropriate records of scheduled equipment maintenance and manages drug/ medical supply inventories
Administrative Tasks:

Salary:
$18.00 to $22.00 per hour
Expected Hours:
40 per week. Part-time position also may be available (at least 24 hrs per week) for 8-hour shifts. Monday to Friday (No nights, No weekends)
