Bariatric and Hernia Institute, PC is in search of a Medical Assistant to become a part of the full-time staff. This is a clinically-oriented position with direct patient care. Bariatric and Hernia Institute, PC is a general surgical practice that provides pre-operative and post-operative care to patients in this outpatient office setting. Major surgeries are conducted in hospital facilities. The ideal candidate will be a certified medical assistant and comfortable working in the surgical field of medicine. Part-Time shifts :

Tuesdays :

8 am•4:30 pm.

Thursdays:

8 am•4:30 pm. +•

Fridays:

11:00 am-3:00 pm (also available) Responsibilities of the Medical Assistant will include: Welcoming patients and helping to provide a great patient experience. Patient check-in and check-out. Rooming patients, taking vital signs, and conducting patient interviews. Making entries into the electronic medical record system (Athena). Providing instructions to patients regarding investigations and procedures to be done. Responding to patient questions. Assisting with office-based procedures. Communicating with pharmacies for prescriptions. Communicating with insurance companies for pre-authorizations. Communicating with hospitals and other medical providers regarding patient care issues. Scheduling surgical procedures with hospitals. Demonstration of critical thinking. Working effectively and efficiently in a team environment.
