Job Description

Category Laboratory - Pathology Assistant Job Type Contract Step into a vital laboratory role supporting high-quality patient care with this contract opportunity for a Pathologist Assistant. This 8-week assignment is ideal for professionals ready to apply their expertise in a dynamic clinical setting.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm
Qualifications:
Active BLS certification Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologist's Assistant program or valid PA (ASCP) certification Proven experience as a Laboratory Pathology Assistant or Pathologist Assistant Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with medical teams, patients, and support staff Commitment to accuracy in patient care documentation
Key Responsibilities:
Process and examine anatomical specimens, ensuring proper preparation and reporting Support pathologists in gross dissection, specimen evaluation, and tissue sampling Maintain clinical competencies for assignments in various business units, adapting to shifting departmental needs Document all aspects of laboratory procedures and patient care accurately and in a timely manner Communicate patient care requirements and findings with co-workers, physicians, and other staff Provide guidance to laboratory staff, including supervising and delegating to respiratory therapists, students, and external trainees as assigned Ensure compliance with organizational safety and documentation protocols Experience in a laboratory environment, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach are essential for success in this position.
