Job Description

Arshad Aqil MD is an Internal Medicine primary care clinic specializing in geriatrics (healthcare needs of older adults) with over 30 years of experience. A well-established, Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and geriatric practice providing comprehensive care to older adults. Well-known and respected within the community-based geriatric clinic serving the senior population. The clinic offers a full range of services including: geriatric services, preventative care, chronic disease management, and advanced care planning. The office of Arshad Aqil MD is looking for a Medical Assistant (MA) to join our dedicated, fast-paced, supportive team environment of healthcare professionals that empowers continuous improvement and where open communication is encouraged.
Roles and responsibilities may include:
Administrative tasks: Answering phones, scheduling appointments, greeting patients, coding and filling out insurance forms, updating patient records, and managing billing and bookkeeping Clinical tasks: Taking vital signs, drawing blood, assisting with procedures, preparing patients for exams, and helping providers with patient examinations Patient care: Interviewing patients and recording their medical history, explaining treatment procedures, and following up with patients regarding test results Laboratory tasks: Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, and taking electrocardiograms Medication administration: Giving patients injections or medications as directed by physicians and as permitted by state law Key Qualifications Completion of a "Medical Assistant" program or certification
Communication:
Effective verbal and written communication with patients, providers, and other healthcare staff.
Empathy:
Demonstrating compassion and understanding towards patients.
Attention to detail:
Accuracy when recording patient information and performing procedures.
Computer literacy:
Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and other practice management software.
Medical knowledge:
Understanding of basic medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Organizational skills:
Efficiently managing schedules, patient flow, and paperwork.
Active listening:
Paying close attention to patients during intake and discussions.
Basic math skills:
Performing simple calculations when necessary
