GENERAL SUMMARY:

As a Medical Assistant in our Dermatology department, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional, compassionate patient care under the direct supervision of our providers and nursing leadership. You will be the first point of contact for our patients, setting the tone for their clinical experience while performing both administrative and clinical responsibilities that directly support quality patient outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Welcome and escort patients to examination rooms, creating a comfortable and professional environmentObtain comprehensive medical histories and document patient information accurately in our electronic medical record systemMeasure, record, and communicate vital signs and other clinical assessmentsPrepare patients for dermatological examinations and procedures, ensuring they understand what to expectAssist providers during patient examinations and procedures, anticipating needs and maintaining a sterile environmentPerform clinical skills related to ambulatory dermatology care with precision and professionalismDemonstrate strong problem-solving abilities to address patient needs and workflow challengesCommunicate effectively with patients, providers, and team members to ensure seamless care coordination Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or G.E.D.

equivalentOne of the following:

Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hours minimum)Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with a minimum of one year of clinical medical assisting experience within the past five yearsCurrent Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of one year of clinical medical assisting experienceLicensed Practical Nurse (LPN)Licensed Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one year of clinical experience within the past five yearsMilitary-trained medical personnel with at least one year of clinical experience within the past five years

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skillsStrong interpersonal and communication abilitiesProblem-solving mindset and adaptabilityClinical skills relevant to ambulatory patient careEPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience is a plus

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURES
