Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to; responsible for the general care functions such as taking vitals, entering reason for visit, administering medications, sending in refills, calling patients as directed by provider, assisting with minor procedures, cleaning equipment, transporting patients, CLIA testing, serving as backup to clerical staff, adhere to all office policies and procedures, and other functions that may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Medical Assistant or equivalent
  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred
  • Must have working knowledge of computer systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required
  • Good communication skills with knowledge of medical-legal principles, medical ethics necessary
  • Must have or be able to obtain BCLS certification
  • Must possess expert clinical assessment and patient care skills
PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS/TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Is frequently required to move around the office
  • Is regularly required to aid patients
  • Overall dexterity is needed, including grasping, handling, and feeling
  • Overall vision is necessary, including color and depth perception, reading and close-up work, and a peripheral field of vision
  • Hearing and speech are necessary, including faint sounds on the phone, as well as in person
  • Regularly exposed to stressful situations; trauma, grief and death, public contact, decision making, and a high level of concentration
  • Frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious material
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment that may include latex materials or appropriate substitutes
  • Comply with Drug-Free Workplace
