Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dependable and motivated Medical Assistant to join our gastroenterology practice. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in both clinical and administrative areas of the office. We are looking for someone who is a quick learner, takes initiative, and works well both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Preparing patient charts before scheduled appointments Rooming patients and obtaining medical histories Taking and documenting vital signs Reviewing and updating medications, allergies, and patient information in the EMR Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient charts and documentation Assisting with prescription refill requests and communicating with pharmacies Completing prior authorizations for medications, imaging, and other services Scheduling and coordinating imaging and diagnostic testing Communicating with patients regarding provider instructions and follow-up needs Answering and returning patient phone calls Processing referrals and medical records as needed Scheduling patient appointments as needed Assisting with other clinical and administrative duties as needed Qualifications & Skills Previous Medical Assistant or medical office experience preferred Gastroenterology experience preferred, but not required Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures Experience with EHR/EMR systems preferred Experience with prior authorizations and insurance processes preferred Strong communication and patient service skills Excellent organizational and time-management skills Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Dependable, punctual, and professional Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment Willingness to learn and adapt to office procedures and workflows Knowledge of HIPAA and maintaining patient confidentiality
