Responsibilities Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments in specialties such as dermatology, internal medicine, or urgent care. Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient symptoms accurately using electronic health records (EHR) systems. Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout their visit. Collect specimens for laboratory testing, perform phlebotomy, and assist with medication administration as directed. Manage patient intake processes, including verifying insurance information and updating medical records with precision. Maintain detailed medical documentation, including ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Support medical office management by organizing appointments, managing EMR/EHR systems, and ensuring accurate medical records are maintained. Assist with hospital or inpatient procedures when necessary, including OR support or inpatient care activities. Ensure adherence to safety protocols such as basic life support (BLS), infection control standards, and physiology knowledge to promote patient safety. Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions, coordinating follow-up appointments, and ensuring a positive healthcare experience. Qualifications Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in settings such as dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or internal medicine. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD coding standards. Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications in phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus. Familiarity with hospital or inpatient environments and OR procedures is highly desirable. Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately. Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation and clinical tasks. Knowledge of medical office management practices including scheduling, record keeping, and administrative support functions.
