The Medical Assistant will:

Obtain patient information and vital signs, assist the physician with patient follow-up calls, screen and follow-up with patient test results; maintain medical record information; coordinate patient care information with other health care providers; and obtain prior authorizations. Phone responsibilities may include answering the phone, creating telephone encounters, directing callers to the appropriate person/department, taking messages and scheduling; appointments for the patients. The Medical Assistant may provide coverage for clerical positions as needed. This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her area. $3,000 Sign On Bonus

Full Time, 72 hours every 2 weeks.

Schedule:

Monday & Tuesday 9:45 am

• 7:15 pm, Wednesday 7:45 am-5:15 pm, Thursday 7:45 am
• 5:30 pm, Friday 7:45 am
• 4:15 pm, Every other Wednesday and Friday off.

No weekends or holidays

Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED required, Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration or LPN required , BLS for the Healthcare Provider 60 days after hire required.

PATIENT CARE

Maintains a confidential, safe, and patient-focused environment. Responds appropriately to patient emergencies in person and via phone. Applies clinical screening tools and obtains/upgrades patient information and vital signs. Orders labs, refills prescriptions, and coordinates referrals/testing per protocol. Reviews After Visit Summary (AVS) with patients and families to ensure understanding. Provides patient education on care gaps, preventive health, and AVS instructions. Supports accessibility needs and room setup adjustments. Manages referral communication and coordination with specialty offices. Follows up on test results and ensures care team addresses abnormal or pending items.

PROVIDER SUPPORT

Collaborates with providers to form a patient-centered care team. Anticipates provider needs to enhance clinical productivity. Facilitates communication between patients, providers, and care teams. Screens calls, gathers relevant information, and communicates professionally. Ensures completion of confidential questionnaires and required forms. Manages appointment scheduling, cancellations, and urgent visit protocols. Coordinates with providers and pharmacy for medication management and adherence.

CLINICAL PROCEDURES

Prepare patients and exam rooms for procedures (e.g., minor surgeries, wound care, pap smears). Assist providers during procedures by handing instruments, maintaining sterile fields, and supporting patient comfort.

DOCUMENTATION

Accurately documents and updates patient records and medication logs. Maintains logs for clinical equipment, point-of-care testing, and sample medications. Obtains prior authorizations (as needed) and manages recalls, overdues, and EMR actions. Prepares charts for upcoming visits, ensuring all relevant records are available. Initiates standing or routine pre-visit orders per protocol. Coordinates with central services for proper categorization and routing of clinical documents. Operational Excellence Contributes to continuous quality improvement and responds effectively to changes in clinical workflows, policies, or priorities. Engages in learning experiences and ensures compliance with policies and regulations. Maintains ethical billing practices and patient confidentiality. Communicates effectively with referral sources. Contributes to initiatives improving care coordination, reducing no-shows, and closing care gaps. Provides workflow improvement feedback related to planning, huddles, and team collaboration.
