Qualifications Certified Medical Assistant Full Job Description Clinical Responsibilities Patient Intake :

Escort patients to exam rooms, interview them to record their medical history, and measure vital signs—including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight.

Direct Care :

Administer medications and injections as directed by a physician and assist with clinical procedures such as wound care or minor surgeries.

Laboratory Tasks :

Perform point-of-care tests, collect and prepare specimens for lab testing, and record test results in medical records.

Room Maintenance :

Clean and sterilize medical instruments, and ensure exam rooms are stocked with necessary supplies for patient visits.

Administrative Duties Patient Coordination :

Manage front-office tasks such as answering phones, scheduling patient appointments, and coordinating follow-ups.

Documentation :

Accurately update and maintain information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to ensure compliant record-keeping.

Customer Service :

Provide a high level of customer service by greeting patients, explaining treatment procedures, and offering emotional support during visits.

Typical Qualifications Education :

High school diploma or equivalent.

Certification :

Completion of a recognized Medical Assistant program and certification (e.g., CMA or RMA) is often required or highly preferred.

Compliance :

Strong knowledge of HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
