A Medical Assistant assists physicians and other medical specialists with routine administrative or clinical tasks. Organizes patient records, schedules appointments, and prepares medical equipment. May specialize in administrative or clinical work, or specialize in a particular area of medicine, i.e. assisting in the office of an ophthalmologist (eye specialist). Works in medical offices.
Hourly, paid bi-weekly Roles & Responsibilities Opening Clinic Arrive by 7:45 AM to prepare the clinic for an 8:00 AM opening. A 5-minute grace period is granted; staff are considered tardy after 7:50 AM. Clock in upon arrival. Turn on lights, equipment, and TVs. Check patient rooms and bathrooms for cleanliness and supplies. Stock exam rooms with PPE, paper, and testing materials. Verify that lab equipment is powered on and ready. Review communication log for pending tasks. Print sticker from Moment Dash for inhouse lab pickup. During Business Hours Patient Care & Clinical Support Greet patients professionally and escort them to exam rooms. Record vital signs, chief complaints, allergies, and medical history in EHR. Prepare patients for provider examinations. Perform in-house testing (strep, flu, COVID, UA, pregnancy, glucose, etc.). Collect, label, and log specimens following chain of custody when required. Ensure accurate documentation of all tests and procedures. Administer injections, vaccines, and medications per provider orders. Perform EKGs, X-rays (if certified), and wound care. Assist providers during exams and procedures. Lab & Administrative Duties Perform quality control (QC) checks on testing machines (UA) on Monday, and QC on all POC tests upon opening new boxes. Prepare and package specimens for courier/lab pickup. Maintain lab sheets, logs, and communication with external labs. Document and escalate abnormal test results per policy. Record any pending tasks in the communication log. Clock out and secure the clinic. Additional Duties Assist with staff/patient training when required. Participate in drills (fire, OSHA, safety, infection control). Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
