Job Overview Wound Care Pro is seeking a motivated Medical Assistant Intern to join our clinical team in New Albany, MS. This position begins as an internship to fulfill required clinical hours, with the opportunity to transition into a full-time Medical Assistant role upon successful completion. The Medical Assistant will work directly alongside our provider(s) to support wound care treatment, patient flow, and clinical documentation in a fast-paced outpatient setting. Responsibilities Assist the provider during wound care procedures, including dressing changes, debridement setup, and wound measurements Prepare exam rooms and ensure supplies/instruments are stocked and ready for patient visits Room patients: obtain vital signs, update medical history, and document chief complaints in the EMR Apply, remove, and change wound dressings under provider supervision Assist with sterile and clean technique procedures as directed Take and upload wound photography for documentation and tracking healing progress Accurately document patient encounters, treatments, and care plans in the EMR Prepare and label specimens as needed Communicate with patients regarding wound care instructions, follow-up appointments, and home care guidelines Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of instruments and treatment areas per infection-control protocols Assist with scheduling, referrals, and coordination of care with other providers as needed Support administrative tasks such as intake paperwork, insurance verification, and chart prep Complete required internship clinical hours and competency evaluations Uphold HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times Preferred Qualifications Phlebotomy experience is a plus Strong attention to detail and comfort working with wound care procedures Reliable, professional, and eager to learn in a clinical environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients and staff

Internship Details:

Expected commitment: Approximately 28 hours per week .

Anticipated duration:

No less than 160 hours and no more than 320 hours total.

Weekly limit:

Participant may not exceed 40 hours per week .

Potential for employment:
