Job Description
Medical Assistant Eastern Cardiology is a physician-owned practice that has served the cardiovascular needs of Eastern North Carolina for decades. We're looking for a full-time Medical Assistant with cardiology experience to join our clinical team, working under the direct supervision of a physician or advanced practice provider. Responsibilities Prep charts before visits, enter test results, and complete patient health histories Initiate and follow through on prior authorizations for medications Room patients, obtain vital signs, and reconcile allergies, medications, and labs in the EHR Perform EKGs and apply Holter monitors Manage faxes, refill requests, and EHR message queues Field patient calls on clinical concerns and document per office policy Stock and maintain exam rooms and clinical areas Support clinic flow and keep patients moving on schedule Follow all safety, privacy, and regulatory standards Other duties may be assigned as needed. Qualifications 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience; cardiology preferred Current CPR/BLS certification Proficiency with rooming, vitals, med reconciliation, and EKGs EHR experience required; Veradigm (formerly Allscripts) strongly preferred Solid grasp of medical terminology and clinical documentation Comfortable in a fast-paced clinic supporting multiple providers Reliable, detail-oriented, and professional with patients and staff Experience completing prior authorizations; familiarity with CoverMyMeds preferred Benefits Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM — no nights, weekends, or call Health, dental, vision, and life insurance 401(k) with profit sharing PTO and paid holidays Long-standing team culture with engaged physician leadership
