Job Description

Seasonal Medical Assistant
  • Tarboro, NC Are you looking for a temporary opportunity to gain valuable experience and make a difference?
MainStreet Family Care is expanding our team for the cold and flu season, running from October to February. We are seeking enthusiastic and friendly Medical Assistants to provide excellent care to our patients during this busy period. Join us in delivering urgent care, primary medical care, telemedicine, and occupational medicine services.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms with necessary instruments
  • Take patient histories and vital signs
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment
  • Dispense medication as directed
  • Educate patients on discharge instructions, when applicable
  • Handle telephone calls from clients, patients, physicians, pharmacies, and other staff
  • Address patient concerns within the scope of the position
Clerical Duties:
  • Maintain patient records for clinical, medical, billing, and review purposes
  • Assist with scheduling tests and treatments
  • Complete opening and closing procedures
Other Duties:
  • Maintain disposable and non-disposable supplies
  • Assist with annual training as needed
  • Help produce and maintain patient education materials
  • Keep work and treatment areas clean and professional
  • Accept and handle special projects as assigned
  • Perform other duties as needed
Rotating Schedule:
Our clinic operates with two shifts: Shift A and Shift B. Staff will work on a rotating schedule, including every other weekend.
Below is a sample schedule:
Qualifications:
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Prior medical assisting experience or education is beneficial but not required
  • Medical assisting cetification is not required.
Compensation:
  • Starting at $15 per hour
