Key Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Physician, the CMA will provide superior patient care and perform both clinical and administrative tasks.
Job Responsibilities:
Greet, prepare, and take patients to examination room. Understand, properly document, and convey reason for visit or medical complaint. Review history, patient information, take vitals, verify medications and pharmacy, and coding using the Electronic Medical Record. Performs venipuncture, urinalysis, spirometry, electrocardiograms, as ordered by the physician. Collect, preserve, and properly label laboratory specimens, bodily fluid, and blood samples. Administration of vaccines/IM/PO/nebulized medications. Provide patients with privacy, comfort, safety and hygiene. Assisting the Practice Physician during examination, when needed. Answering phones and assisting with check in/check out, when needed. Responsible for preparation of medical instruments. Making sure patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients. Address and request referrals and other insurance authorizations. As well as passing along patient information for prescription, x-ray or lab requisitions to necessary parties. This includes calling pharmacies, hospitals, and labs. Perform other duties/tasks as requested by physician in accordance with office procedures/policies.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Minimum one-year CMA experience in a physician practice preferred.
