Responsibilities The Pediatric Medical Assistant works closely with our pediatricians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and office staff to provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients from newbornthrough college age. Clinical Responsibilities The Medical Assistant is responsible for preparing and rooming patients for sick visits and should be experienced performing pediatric clinical duties, including: Obtaining and accurately documenting height, weight, head circumference, temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and pain assessment , as age appropriate Obtaining and documenting the reason for visit, current symptoms, relevant patient history, medications, allergies, and other pertinent clinical information Reviewing and updating medication lists, allergies, immunization history, pharmacy information, and relevant medical history in the EMR. Rooming and preparing patients for same-day sick visits and acute pediatric complaints Collecting and preparing specimens, including throat swabs, nasal/nasopharyngealswabs, urine specimens, and other specimens as ordered Performing or assisting with point-of-care testing , including rapid strep, influenza, COVID-19, urinalysis, and other in-office testing. Preparing and administering nebulizer and spitometry and other ordered treatments Preparing exam rooms and ensuring appropriate supplies and equipment are available Accurately entering clinical information, test results, and other required documentation into the EMR Supporting efficient patient flow while maintaining patient safety, confidentiality, professionalism, and compassionate care The Medical Assistant is expected to work collaboratively with the entire clinical and administrative team and to treat every patient, parent, caregiver, and coworker with professionalism. Qualifications Candidates must have graduated from a Medical Assisting program accredited by an appropriately recognized accrediting organization . Previous pediatric medical assisting experience is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, detail-oriented, comfortable in a fast-paced pediatric environment, and able to prioritize multiple clinical responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and excellent patient care.
