Medical Assistant - Rustic Health Primary CareOverview Rustic Health Primary Care is excited to bring comprehensive, patient-centered healthcare services to the Alamogordo community. We are seeking a friendly, compassionate, knowledgeable, and highly motivated Medical Assistant to join our growing team as we launch a brand-new clinic. At Rustic Health Primary Care, our patients always come first. Everything we do is driven by the needs of the individuals and families we serve. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, adapting to change, and contributing to a positive and welcoming atmosphere for every patient who walks through our doors. Candidates must be familiar with Athenahealth (Athena) electronic health record software and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Responsibilities Welcome patients and create a warm, professional, and compassionate environment. Place patients first by ensuring they receive exceptional care, timely communication, and a positive healthcare experience. Assist providers during examinations, procedures, and treatments while ensuring all clinical protocols are followed. Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, allergies, and other patient information. Prepare examination rooms and maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment. Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, injections, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and other duties within the scope of practice. Schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, and assist with prior authorizations and insurance verification. Accurately maintain patient records within the Athenahealth electronic medical record system. Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow-up appointments. Maintain inventory and ensure that medical supplies and equipment are properly stocked and maintained. Support clinic operations and contribute to the development of efficient workflows as the practice continues to grow. Qualifications Current Medical Assistant certification preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR certification. Experience working in a primary care setting is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control procedures, and patient confidentiality requirements. Experience using Athenahealth (Athena) is strongly preferred. Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills. Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and administrative staff. Comfortable working in a newly established clinic environment where flexibility, initiative, and teamwork are essential. Preferred Characteristics Friendly, approachable, and patient-focused.
