Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and team-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Dermatology practice in Geneva, NY. Under the direction and supervision of the Practice Manager and/or Physician, the Medical Assistant provides high-quality clinical support to help ensure an exceptional patient experience and the best possible clinical outcomes.

The Medical Assistant works closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and clerical staff to support the flow of patients throughout the practice. This position provides care and assistance to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and plays an important role in creating a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities Obtain and document patient clinical intake information, including vital signs and pertinent medical history. Prepare patients for examinations and in-office procedures. Assist physicians and other providers with medical examinations and dermatology procedures as directed. Perform dressing changes and other clinical duties within the scope of the position. Accurately document and transcribe physician examination and consultation findings into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for provider review. Arrange diagnostic testing and coordinate community care as needed. Maintain efficient patient flow in collaboration with clinical and clerical team members. Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean, organized, and appropriately stocked. Monitor and maintain medical supply inventory at appropriate levels. Protect patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. Communicate professionally and courteously with patients, families, providers, and coworkers. Support a positive team environment and demonstrate a commitment to teamwork. Assist with training new staff members as needed. Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and safety and infection-control standards. Provide care appropriate to the patient's age, developmental needs, and clinical condition. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Professional and courteous communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a busy clinical environment. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Willingness and ability to assist with training new staff.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Medical Assistant certification from a program licensed by the State of New York. Previous experience in a physician office, dermatology practice, or other medical setting. Experience working with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. This position involves reasonably anticipated occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Duties may involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissues. Appropriate safety and infection-control practices are required.
