What they do
An Emergency Medical Director within emergency medical services is a physician who provides guidance, leadership, oversight and continuous quality improvement (CQI) for the practice of local EMTs and paramedics within a predefined area. Typically board-certified in emergency medicine or pediatric emergency medicine. Generally responsible for either the creation of protocols for treatment by prehospital providers or providing leadership to the group of physicians who assist with the provision of medical oversight depending on which model of service delivery and which model of medical control are operating.

Job Description
EDUCATION
Minimum:
- High school or equivalent with a medical secretary course background.
- Completion of course in medical terminology.
Preferred:
- Associate degree in secretarial or health related field.
LICENSE:
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS
WORKEXPERIENCE
Minimum:
- Two years of general secretarial experience.
Preferred:
- Previous Emergency related experience.
SKILLS:
Minimum:
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the people in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
- Computer literacy.
Preferred:
- Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record; Meditech.
