New York Medical & Diagnostic Center is seeking a dependable, energetic, and highly organized Medical Assistant to join our busy multispecialty medical practice. This is an extremely fast-paced work environment. We see a high volume of patients and work with multiple medical specialties under one roof. The ideal candidate must be comfortable moving quickly, managing several responsibilities at once, maintaining accuracy under pressure, and providing excellent patient care throughout a busy day. This position is best suited for someone who is proactive, efficient, dependable, organized, and able to anticipate what needs to be done without constant supervision. Because this is a team-oriented position, employees are expected to remain productive throughout their shift. During periods of lower patient volume or downtime, the Medical Assistant will be expected to assist with paperwork, scanning, filing, medical records, administrative projects, and other office duties as assigned. Closed Availability during our operating schedule, including Saturdays, is required. Specific shifts will be determined based on the needs of the practice. Commute Requirement Because reliability and punctuality are extremely important in our high-volume practice, candidates should live within a reasonable commuting distance of Kew Gardens, Queens, or have a reliable and manageable commute to our office. Applicants should be able to consistently arrive on time for early morning shifts and remain available for scheduled evening hours when required. Preference will be given to candidates who live nearby or have a short, dependable commute. Responsibilities The Medical Assistant will assist physicians, providers, and other members of the clinical team with efficient patient flow and day-to-day clinical operations.
Responsibilities may include:
Greet patients and prepare them for examinations and procedures Escort patients to examination rooms Obtain and document vital signs Take and accurately document patient medical histories Review and update medication lists, allergies, and relevant medical information Prepare examination and treatment rooms Assist physicians and other licensed providers during examinations and procedures Explain treatment procedures and basic instructions to patients as directed by the provider Perform basic clinical and laboratory testing within the Medical Assistant's permitted scope Prepare medications and supplies for administration by authorized providers Administer medications, vaccinations, or injections when appropriately trained, permitted, and directed by a licensed provider Perform wound care and dressing changes as directed Prepare patients for diagnostic testing and procedures Clean, disinfect, and properly stock examination rooms Maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies Assist with patient flow between multiple providers and departments Enter accurate information into the electronic medical record Assist providers with documentation and administrative tasks when appropriate Communicate with patients regarding provider instructions Coordinate with the front desk and clinical staff to keep the day's schedule moving efficiently Answer clinical telephone messages and route questions appropriately Obtain outside medical records, laboratory reports, imaging results, and other documentation when needed Assist with paperwork, scanning, filing, medical records, document organization, and other administrative tasks during downtime Help complete back-office projects when patient volume permits Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements Follow infection-control and workplace safety procedures Complete additional clinical and administrative duties as assigned Productivity Expectations We are looking for someone who understands that being a Medical Assistant in a busy multispecialty practice involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities. When there are patients waiting, the priority is maintaining efficient patient flow and supporting the providers. When there is downtime between patients, team members are expected to use that time productively.
Downtime responsibilities may include:
Scanning medical documents Filing and organizing paperwork Preparing or organizing patient charts Obtaining and processing medical records Reviewing documents for proper placement in patient charts Organizing clinical forms and supplies Assisting with administrative projects Helping other departments when appropriate Completing other office tasks assigned by management This is not a position where downtime means having nothing to do. We expect employees to take initiative and remain productive throughout the workday.
