Job Description

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Medical Assistant performs various administrative and clinical duties and tasks. Essential Functions (Job Duties) Review patient charts to determine appropriate scheduling in adherence with Clinic policies and protocols to support prescription refills, health monitoring appointments, engagement appointments, etc. Monitor prescription refill and nurse's voicemails, assuming responsibility for any administrative tasks and forwarding actions that require LPN or RN licensure to the appropriate party. Process prior authorizations and facilitate appeal process when necessary. Perform administrative functions in support of medical paperwork, such as school notes, disability paperwork, letters of support for therapy pets, etc. Retrieve labs, medical records, documents, etc. from hospitals, schools, pharmacies, etc. Receive, prioritize and route incoming calls for nursing staff and providers. Support Customer Support as needed and cover front desk in times of staff shortages or breaks. Assist with processing urine drug screens as needed. Confirm appointments. Comply with Office of Mental Health (OMH), Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS), New York State and Federal regulations, laws and ethical guidelines. Workweek schedule:
Monday through Friday. Schedule determined by supervisor to meet location/departmental needs. Hours and schedules may vary depending on Company need and workload. Employees will be given as much advance notice as possible when such changes occur. Travel Minimal Required Education and Experience Certified Medical Assistant or ability to become certified within one year of employment. High school diploma or equivalent. Experience working with mental health and substance use population is preferred.
