Medical Assistant - Billing & Eligibility Specialist We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Medical Assistant whose primary responsibility will be insurance eligibility verification and medical billing, while also assisting with front office and clinical support as needed. The ideal candidate is organized, efficient, and able to work in a fast-paced medical office while providing excellent patient service. • Must be able to travel to an office in the Bronx, 1665 Grand Concourse Responsibilities Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments. Process medical billing, claims, and payment posting. Follow up on denied or unpaid insurance claims. Obtain prior authorizations when required. Maintain accurate patient insurance and demographic information. Schedule patient appointments and assist with patient check-in/check-out. Answer phones, respond to faxes, and assist patients with billing and insurance questions. Send medical records and coordinate authorizations for testing. Triage patients and assist with clinical duties as needed. Prepare and clean examination rooms. Maintain HIPAA compliance and accurate documentation. Qualifications Previous experience as a Medical Assistant Experience with medical billing, insurance eligibility verification, and claims processing is required. Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10, and insurance plans preferred. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) and practice management software. Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Must be punctual, dependable, and professional. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Preferred Qualifications Experience obtaining prior authorizations. Knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid billing. Experience working in a busy outpatient medical practice.
