Job Description

Job Summary The Medical Assistant/Receptionist is a hybrid position and essential member of the health care team who supports practitioners in providing high-quality patient care. In this role, they interact professionally with patients, providers, and other clinical personnel while working collaboratively with the medical team to ensure efficient and effective care delivery. The Medical Assistant/Receptionist plays a key role in facilitating patient flow within the practice, contributing to optimal patient processing and satisfaction. They apply essential skills and knowledge to expedite the entire patient visit process, including registration, intake screening, provider encounters, and safe discharge. Duties Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a welcoming environment for all visitors and callers Manage patient intake by collecting accurate demographic information, insurance details, and medical histories Schedule appointments efficiently using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, coordinating with providers' availability. Verify insurance coverage and process billing or co-payments accurately at the point of service Obtain vital signs, height, weight, and other basic physiological measurements during patient check-in Assist with documentation of patient encounters Support clinical staff by preparing examination rooms, handling specimen labeling, and managing medical supplies Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive patient information Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers regarding appointment reminders or follow-up instructions Support emergency procedures by understanding basic life support protocols when necessary Qualifications Proven experience in a medical administrative support role within outpatient or hospital settings Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ICD coding practices Familiarity with EHR systems and clinic scheduling software is essential Experience working in Primary Care, urgent care, hospital medicine, or emergency medicine environments is highly desirable Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude under pressure Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—are crucial for effective patient interaction and team collaboration Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory Knowledge of E Clinical Works (ECW) preferred Bilingual a plus Join us to be part of a dedicated team committed to delivering outstanding patient care through energetic service and meticulous administrative support.
