Job Description

Medical Assistant - Desk / Clerical Southwoods Health is seeking a professional and detail-oriented Desk/Clerical Medical Assistant . This unique role blends administrative coordination with clinical preparation, serving as a vital link between our patients and the clinical team. You will manage scheduling, communications, and electronic medical records while ensuring our specialized clinical spaces are fully prepared for patient care.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Readiness:
Prepare, maintain, and restock EMG examination rooms and equipment; assist with patient positioning and comfort during testing.
Sanitization & Safety:
Clean and disinfect clinical areas and equipment in strict accordance with infection prevention and safety standards.
Information Management:
Accurately retrieve, prepare, and update patient records, diagnostic reports, and external medical history within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Patient & Team Communication:
Handle patient messages, manage incoming phone calls, and facilitate clear communication between patients and providers.
Care Coordination:
Assist with scheduling follow-up appointments, testing, and outbound referrals.
Flow Optimization:
Monitor provider schedules to maintain efficient patient flow, proactively communicating delays or patient concerns to the clinical team.
Job Requirements & Qualifications Certification:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required. Education & Experience (Must meet at least one of the following criteria): Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Current certification or registration from an accredited association (must be maintained throughout employment). 1+ years of direct, hands-on training performing Medical Assistant duties in a physician office setting.
Schedule & Environment Hours:
Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Variable based on clinical needs).
