Duties Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration. Prepare examination rooms, ensure cleanliness, and organize supplies to maintain a sterile environment for procedures. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) by documenting patient encounters accurately and efficiently while maintaining confidentiality. Support medication administration under supervision, including understanding pharmacology basics relevant to outpatient and inpatient settings. Conduct basic life support (BLS) procedures when necessary and assist in emergency situations within hospital or urgent care environments. Coordinate patient scheduling, follow-up appointments, and manage medical documentation to optimize clinic workflow. Support medical office management tasks such as ICD coding for diagnoses, updating medical records, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Assist with laboratory procedures like specimen handling or processing in accordance with hospital protocols. Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions, offering comfort, and ensuring a positive experience during visits. Qualifications Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient clinics, hospital medicine, urgent care centers, or specialty departments such as dermatology or geriatrics. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, ICD coding, and medical-surgical procedures. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems (Electronic Medical Records/Electronic Health Records management) for accurate documentation and data entry. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications like DAANCE or Nitrous Oxide monitoring are highly desired. Experience working in hospital settings with inpatient or Level II trauma center exposure is highly desirable. (ER or OR setting preferred) Ability to perform clinical tasks such as vital signs measurement, intake processing, phlebotomy, medication administration, and assisting during procedures in outpatient or inpatient environments. Excellent communication skills focused on patient service excellence; ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced settings like emergency medicine or PICU environments. Knowledge of medical records management standards and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used across various healthcare specialties including internal medicine or medical-surgical units.
