Full-Time Position Summary The MVA Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to patients receiving treatment for injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents. This position works closely with providers, patients, attorneys, insurance companies, and outside healthcare facilities to coordinate timely and organized patient care. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, compassionate, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Essential ResponsibilitiesPatient Care Room and prepare patients for examinations and procedures. Obtain and document patient histories, medications, vital signs, and other clinical information. Assist providers with examinations and procedures as directed. Provide pre- and post-procedure instructions to patients. Document patient communications, treatment, and provider recommendations accurately. Schedule appropriate follow-up appointments after visits and procedures. MVA Case Management Coordinate treatment for patients injured in motor vehicle accidents. Obtain and maintain accident, insurance claim, and attorney information. Coordinate imaging, physical therapy, procedures, referrals, and specialist consultations. Communicate with attorneys, insurance adjusters, referring providers, imaging facilities, physical therapy offices, and other healthcare providers. Track each patient's treatment plan, appointments, authorizations, and outstanding documentation. Follow up on missing information that could delay patient care. Medical Records & Authorizations Request and obtain medical records and imaging from outside facilities. Send authorized medical records to providers, attorneys, insurance representatives, and other appropriate parties. Obtain and track prior authorizations for procedures, imaging, and physical therapy. Maintain accurate records of authorizations, medical records, and related communications. Ensure documentation is handled in accordance with HIPAA and office policies. Scheduling & Patient Communication Schedule office visits, procedures, imaging, physical therapy, and specialist appointments. Confirm appointments and communicate appointment or procedure instructions to patients. Assist with reducing cancellations and no-shows through timely patient communication. Answer patient questions and direct clinical concerns to the appropriate provider. Communicate professionally with patients, attorneys, insurance representatives, and outside providers. Handle difficult or frustrated patients with professionalism and compassion. Administrative Duties Maintain accurate patient information in the EMR. Complete work-status notes, referrals, forms, and other documentation as directed. Maintain tracking spreadsheets and office records. Communicate important patient updates to the appropriate staff and providers. Perform other clinical and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical Assistant certification preferred. Previous medical office or clinical experience required. MVA, personal injury, pain management, or orthopedic experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures. Familiarity with HIPAA requirements. Strong computer and EMR skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively. Professional, dependable, and patient-focused. Preferred Experience Working with motor vehicle accident or personal injury patients. Experience using eClinical Works. Communicating with attorneys and insurance adjusters. Obtaining prior authorizations. Coordinating physical therapy, imaging, procedures, and specialist referrals. Managing multiple patients and treatment plans simultaneously. Maintaining detailed records and consistently following up on outstanding tasks. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the clinic during the workday. Ability to assist with routine patient care and positioning as needed. Ability to lift and carry routine office and clinical supplies. Pay:
$20.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
