Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient service while managing administrative tasks in a fast-paced medical environment. As a small private practice every member of our team wears many hats, this role will include some medical reception and administrative tasks in addition to the more tradition clinical work of a medical assistant. This position requires strong organizational skills, knowledge of medical terminology, flexibility, and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure efficient patient care. Administrative Duties Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner. Manage patient check in and intake processes, including collecting personal information, inputting insurance information, and explaining company policies. Schedule appointments and manage the clinic calendar efficiently. Maintain accurate patient records using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Handle phone inquiries, respond to patient questions, and provide information about services. Process insurance claims and verify patient eligibility for services. Processing patient payments and basic knowledge of reimbursement. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care across various departments, including dermatology, urgent care, and internal medicine. including management of referrals Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Clinical Duties Light triage support with patients over the phone Phlebotomy and Point of Care Testing Administration of medications and vaccines Autoclave process; from setting up a sterile field, assisting in procedures, and cleaning/sterilizing instruments used. Assist with the administration of vital signs and basic life support as needed. Managing Prior Authorization requests Managing incoming medication refill requests Stocking supplies and managing inventory Skills The ideal candidate should possess the following skills: Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Experience in clinic environments. Familiarity with ICD coding and medication administration practices. Ability to perform intake procedures and document vital signs accurately. Strong understanding of patient service principles and customer care best practices. Experience with EHR systems for effective record management. Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
