Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dependable, organized, and compassionate Bilingual Medical Assistant to join our outpatient psychiatric medication-management clinic. The Medical Assistant works closely with psychiatric providers to support patient care, prepare patients for appointments, assist with medication-related needs, and help ensure the clinic operates efficiently. Primary Responsibilities Room patients and prepare them for medication-management appointments. Obtain and document vital signs and other appropriate patient information prior to the provider entering the appointment. Review and update medications, allergies, pharmacy information, and other relevant information in the patient's chart. Prepare patient charts and ensure providers have necessary information for each appointment. Receive and process medication refill requests for provider review and approval. Assist with medication preparation and administration , including injections and other medications as ordered by the provider and permitted within the Medical Assistant's scope of practice. Document medication administration accurately in the patient's medical record. Monitor patients as required following medication administration and promptly report concerns or adverse reactions to the appropriate provider. Communicate with pharmacies regarding prescriptions and medication-related questions as directed by providers. Take patient messages regarding medications, side effects, treatment concerns, or other clinical questions and route them to the appropriate provider. Communicate provider instructions and responses back to patients when appropriate. Assist providers with medical paperwork and forms, including FMLA, disability, leave-of-absence, accommodation, and other requested documentation. Assist with medication prior authorizations and insurance-related requests as needed. Obtain outside medical records, laboratory results, pharmacy information, and other documentation requested by providers. Upload, scan, and organize clinical documents within the patient's electronic health record. Respond to patient phone calls and electronic messages within the scope of the Medical Assistant role. Coordinate with front-desk staff, providers, and other clinical staff to ensure appointments run efficiently. Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA, safety, infection-control, and clinic policies. Recognize concerns requiring provider attention and promptly escalate urgent or clinically significant issues. Maintain medication administration areas and supplies according to clinic procedures. Perform additional clinical and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications Medical Assistant credential required as applicable under Oregon/Washington State requirements. Previous experience in a medical, behavioral health, or psychiatric setting preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organization and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple patient requests, refill requests, provider messages, and paperwork efficiently. Comfortable using electronic health records and standard medical office technology. Ability to maintain professionalism, appropriate patient boundaries, and confidentiality. Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is compassionate, professional, organized, and comfortable working with patients receiving psychiatric care. They should be able to balance direct patient care with administrative responsibilities and communicate effectively with both patients and providers. This position primarily supports outpatient psychiatric medication management , including preparing patients for appointments, coordinating medication-related requests, assisting with medication administration, handling provider messages, and completing clinical paperwork.
Pay:
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour
