The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient operations. Qualifications :

Medical Assistant 1 High school diploma or GED

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform and document all patient interactions, including medical history, vital signs, and interventions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards. Administer prescribed medications per provider instructions and document patient response while adhering to safety protocols. Assist with and perform delegated clinical tasks and procedures following established protocols and competency guidelines. Utilize medical supplies and equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring proper maintenance and inventory control. Address age-specific physical, psychological, and cultural needs for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients while maintaining a compassionate approach. Effectively communicate with the care team to enhance coordination, prioritize patient needs, and ensure seamless workflow. Train new employees in clinic workflows respectfully and accurately while staying updated on best practices through continuing education and workshops. Communicate with insurance carriers for medication prior authorization. Respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills in changing work environments.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and staff, both in person and via phone, email, or messaging systems. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times, both in patient records and in conversation. Accuracy in recording patient information, following medical protocols, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Strong ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and healthcare providers, explaining procedures and providing compassionate patient care. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple patients and tasks efficiently, and prioritize workload effectively.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Must be able to move heavy objects and may be required to assist or safely move patients of varying weight sizes. Ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone Requires ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting. Occasional exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue, communicable diseases, chemicals, including but not limited to sticks or cuts by needles and other sharp items.
