Full-time Pathology Assistant in Butler, Pennsylvania. Earn up to $60 per hour plus a $20,000 sign-on bonus, and work with a collaborative laboratory team.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens Prepare and submit tissue specimens for histologic processing and microscopic examination Describe, measure, photograph, section, and document surgical specimens accurately Select appropriate tissue sections for diagnostic evaluation Assist pathologists with complex surgical specimens and anatomic pathology procedures Perform or assist with postmortem examinations when applicable Maintain accurate specimen identification, documentation, and quality control standards Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of biological specimens Follow laboratory safety, infection control, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements Assist with frozen sections and other intraoperative pathology procedures as needed Support pathology department quality assurance and process improvement initiatives Maintain an organized grossing environment while collaborating closely with pathologists, histotechnologists, laboratory staff, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required Graduate of an NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant program strongly preferred PA(ASCP) certification required or eligibility to obtain certification based on employer requirements Master's degree in a Pathologists' Assistant program preferred Previous experience in surgical pathology, gross examination, or anatomic pathology preferred Strong knowledge of anatomy, pathology terminology, tissue sampling, and laboratory procedures Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with pathologists and laboratory personnel

Preferred Skills:

Previous experience working as a Pathologists' Assistant in a hospital or clinical laboratory environment Experience grossing a broad range of complex surgical specimens Strong knowledge of laboratory quality and safety standards Ability to manage multiple specimens and priorities in a fast-paced pathology department Strong written and verbal communication skills
