Job Description
FULL-TIME DERMATOLOGY MEDICAL ASSISTANT
- Starting at $18.00 per hour At Lackawanna Valley Dermatology Associates, we provide excellent dermatological care to Northeast PA! Our growing Practice has two state-of-the-art offices located in Scranton and Kingston, PA. We provide our patients with the finest care in general dermatology, pediatric dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, Mohs skin cancer surgery, and laser treatments. We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! Successful candidates will be friendly, collaborative team players who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.- While the majority of your days will be in our Scranton location, applicants must be able to travel to and work in our Kingston location as needed.
- Job Summary This is an on-site position. Your typical day will include recording patient medical information in our Medent EMR while assisting providers in surgery and exams. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Essential Functions
- Prepare exam/surgery rooms each morning as required, configure Expeditor Light System, fill liquid nitrogen containers, begin calling patients back to rooms.
- Complete patient charts with appropriate information
- E-prescribe prescriptions for doctor to sign and document in chart
- Complete and print pathology sheets and prepare specimens
- Apply dressings after surgery and give post-operative instructions
- Apply leg ulcer dressings as needed
- Provide patients with samples and literature as required
- Complete billing in EMR system for Check-Out Staff.
- Instruct patient to stop at front desk for check-out
- Clean exam/surgery room for next patient. Qualifications
- Minimum one year experience in medical practice or professional medical setting required OR certification in medical assisting.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in EMR (Medent preferred) and computer skills
- ICD and CPT coding knowledge preferred
- Prior experience in Dermatology strongly preferred
- Ability and willingness to travel to and work at our locations in Scranton and Kingston offices as needed
- Ability to multi-task while simultaneously providing excellent, quality care to our patients
- Ability and willingness to work as effective member of a team Licenses & Certifications
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred Excellent benefit package included.
